Royal Palace in Caserta

The Royal Palace of Caserta is a monumental architectural masterpiece that embodies the grandeur and opulence of the Bourbon dynasty. On the 20th of January 1752, in Caserta, King Charles of Bourbon laid the first stone of this construction site that would change the fate of the entire area. The Royal Palace was designed by Luigi Vanvitelli, one of the greatest Italian architects of the 18th century.

The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest royal residences in the world. Its imposing facade, adorned with elegant Baroque and Neoclassical elements, commands attention as visitors approach its vast courtyard. The interior of the palace is equally magnificent, boasting lavishly decorated rooms, frescoes, and sumptuous furnishings. The highlight of the palace is the breathtaking Grand Staircase, a marvel of engineering and design. Surrounding the palace is a vast park expanding across 11 acres; the garden's pools, fountains, and cascades are aligned through a telescope effect, extending as far as the eye can see.
